Sirens & Secrets

This painting series that was 3 years in the making, is as personal and profound as anything I have ever painted. It is nothing less than the depiction of evil trying to ruin a life while our protagonist fights for her soul.

It concerns the baggage we all carry through life and how everyone’s demons are different. I hope everyone viewing the work will see their own baggage.

Personally, I found I was telling my daughter’s story about drug addiction. The temptation, agony, ecstasy - and if lucky or strong enough, redemption. I made this series beautiful, even though baggage is not often beautiful. The reason I did so is that humans trying to better themselves is literally THE most beautiful thing I know. These are epic battles that deserve epic storytelling.

Baggage comes in many forms. For me, I see drug addiction. This is one that effects almost every family in the United States in one way or another. Drug overdose deaths top 100,000 a year in this country. 31.9 million people in this country over aged 12 are addicted to illegal drugs.

Please enjoy my series and the deep pride I have for someone I love unconditionally who fought her battle and won. Four years sober now, we rejoice every day for this fact. As a mother, witness, cheerleader and sometimes victim to this life or death battle, these paintings are my honor and my therapy.
